The closest airports are Brussels and Düsseldorf, a little further away is Amsterdam/Schiphol airport.
If you decide to fly to Brussels you can take a train to Maastricht. The costs for a one-way ticket are about € 25-30. The itinerary varies greatly. Trains from Zaventem to Brussels North run every 10 to 15 minutes and take about 15 minutes to arrive. At Brussels North you need to check the boards (or ask the ticket vendor at Zaventem/Brussels Airport) for trains to Liège Guillemins (central station). From Liège you take the slow train to Maastricht which stops at Maastricht Randwijck. From there the venue is at about 10 minutes wlaking distance. A travel planner for Belgium is also available online.
If you decide to fly to Düsseldorf you can also take a train to Maastricht. The costs for a one-way ticket are about € 20,-. Take the sky-train from the terminal to the “airport Düsseldorf train station”. The SkyTrain commutes frequently between the terminal and the “Flughafen” airport railway station. The journey between the two end stops (the “Bahnhof Düsseldorf Flughafen” railway station and “Terminal C”) takes about five minutes. The following tickets are accepted as being valid fare tickets.
1) Valid VRR tickets
2) DB tickets
3) Rail&Fly tickets
4) Apcoa Autoparking GmbH car park tickets
5) Tickets for the observation deck at Düsseldorf International
Passengers who do not have one of these tickets are required to obtain a short-range fare ticket in order to ride on the SkyTrain. A bus transfer between the terminal and the “Flughafen” station is provided for times the SkyTrain is not in service. Online you will find the itinerary. Every half hour a train leaves. It takes approximately 2.5 hours to Maastricht train station.
If you decide to fly to Amsterdam/Schiphol airport there is also a train to Maastricht. The price for a one-way ticket is approximately € 25.00 as you can find in a very clear travel planner offered in English.
